Garrod Hydraulics, Inc., provides industrial hard chrome plating of various components in addition to the expert repair and remanufacturing of the largest hydraulic cylinders in current production. Recognized for its quality and workmanship, Garrod Hydraulics maintains ISO-9001 certification. Our shop is home to the largest chrome plating facility east of the Mississippi River. In addition, several OEM manufacturers specify Garrod Hydraulics for the remanufacturing of cylinders used on their products.

Our Facility
Our Location Makes It Easy to Get it to Garrod
Located in York, Pennsylvania, Garrod Hydraulics is one of the largest industrial hard chrome plating shops on the east coast. We are under 2 hours from Philadelphia and Washington D.C., and under 4 hours from Richmond, Pittsburgh, and New York City.
Our 67,500 square foot facility boasts 15,000 lbs. bridge crane capacity. We have the capacity to hone cylinder bores to 36” diameter and 50’ long in a single setup. In addition, our chrome plate- shallow tank can accommodate cylinders 60” diameter X 80” long, and our deep tank can accommodate 46’ long cylinders. Whether it’s a remanufacture or a repair, it’s all done in-house to ensure quality and your complete satisfaction.
Finally, our facility boasts 871 solar panels, demonstrating our commitment to reducing our impact on the environment and to reduce overall costs.
Our Story
Garrod Hydraulics opens its doors with a vision for providing large-scale repair and remanufacturing of hydraulic cylinders and high quality industrial hard chrome plating services.
Company moves into new 6,000 sq. ft. facility.
First expansion of building to 15,000 sq. ft. facility including technology and equipment for industrial hard chrome plating.
Second expansion in 1994 increasing manufacturing, warehouse and office spaces.
Became first ISO-9001 certified supplier of hydraulic cylinder service and repair in the United States.
Constructs new 67,500 sq. ft. facility, housing the largest capacity industrial hard chrome plating facility on the East Coast with capabilities up to 60-inch diameter and 46-foot length.
Forms partnership with Manitowoc CraneCare to provide authorized hydraulic cylinder repair on Manitowoc, Grove, National, Krupp, and Shuttlelift cranes.
Completes installation of 250KW solar panel array to reduce electricity costs associated with industrial hard chrome plating. The endeavor was part of a broader company philosophy to minimize its impact on the environment. Other earth-friendly investments included three-phase redundant containment system, waste oil burners, and a rainwater collection system that flows to a wet basin pond used for fishing and fire protection.
Conversion of covered loading dock into manufacturing space, increasing weld shop and polishing area capacities.
Begins partnership with Liebherr Cranes to provide authorized hydraulic cylinder repair on Liebherr LTM and LTF all-terrain and truck crane cylinders in the United States.
Establishes strategic partnership to provide repair and remanufacturing services for hydraulic cylinders used on Tadano Cranes.
