Dams

Dams
Providing cylinder repair and chrome plating services, Garrod Hydraulics has supported flood control and hydro-electric power stations across the United States and worldwide. Government flood control operations in addition to public and private utilities depend on Garrod Hydraulics for modernizing critical components. Many of these stations have been operating since the middle of the last century.
Utilizing the latest seal technology, Garrod Hydraulics delivers cylinder repairs that meet today’s engineering standards providing customers with peace of mind for the long-term. Improved safety, efficiency, and productivity combined with reduced labor and maintenance costs are just some of the benefits achieved.
Rebuilding the largest servo motor cylinders and large flow control cylinders used in dam operations, Garrod Hydraulics has the capacity to:
- Hone cylinder bores to 36” diameter and 50’ long in a single setup
- Chrome plate the following dimensions:
- Shallow tank accommodates up to 60” diameter X 80” long
- Deep tank accommodates up to 46’ long
Steel Mills

Steel Mills
Cylinders in a variety of sizes are used in equipment operating in some of the harshest environments. Anything less than peak performance is not an option for heavy duty and mill cylinders. Garrod Hydraulics can help.
Processing, continuous casting, and rolling facilities all rely on equipment that depends on properly functioning cylinders. Applications range from extrusion machines to shears, and milling equipment.
In 2010, Garrod Hydraulics expanded its services to include remanufacturing and testing of Automatic Gauge Control (AGC) cylinders, which are now commonly used in steel mills and rolling machines.
Garrod Hydraulics can:
- Hone cylinder bores to 36” diameter and 50’ long in a single setup
- Chrome plate the following dimensions:
- Shallow Tank 60” diameter X 80” long
- Deep Tank 46’ long
Scrap Recycling

Scrap Recycling
Garrod Hydraulics is committed to helping scrap recycling equipment owners maintain their processing, sorting, and handling equipment, which is often subjected to abusive, high-impact environments.
Scrap processing and recycling in the United States is a $100 billion industry with major investments in equipment. According to a 2012 study commissioned by the Institute for Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI), the average investment in recycling equipment is $200,000.
Rebuilt or remanufactured cylinders for balers, shears, loggers, material handlers, and compacters can lengthen the useful service life of equipment and contribute to increased cycle times.
Whether the raw materials to be recycled are paper, plastics, or metals, Garrod Hydraulics can provide remanufacturing for cylinders meeting the following parameters:
- Hone cylinder bores to 36” diameter and 50’ long in a single setup
- Chrome plate the following dimensions:
- Shallow tank accommodates up to 60” diameter X 80” long
- Deep tank accommodates up to 46’ long
